Giles Deacon, Spring/Summer '09 (scroll down to read the review)
Giles Deacon
A 1980s classic arcade game proved to be the unlikely inspiration for Giles' tenth collection, a theme he made sure couldn't be missed as he sent some models down the catwalk wearing oversized metal Pac-Man hats (as shiny as a Jeff Koons puppy).

Gimmicks aside, however, it seems that Deacon is finally settling down to a more commercially viable route: we saw a selection of exquisitely tailored monochrome sheath dresses in silk, full of his now trademark cuts, sensible prints, and simple bright coloured jersey dresses worn with matching handbags which suggest he is also expanding his brand into accessories. This is not to say that his idiosyncratic craftwork was of any less quality than the perfection we've come to expect, but it does seem that Deacon is at last making himself accessible to a broader public.
