Peter Jensen, Spring/Summer '08 (scroll down to read review)
Peter Jensen
When it comes to muses, no one quite picks them like Peter Jensen. This season, the designer gravitated to one of director John Waters' original leading ladies, Mink Stole. Inspired by some of Stole's most memorable roles as campy, highly-strung villainesses in the late 70s, Jensen presented a rockabilly infused collection of knee-length dresses, well-starched fitted shirts and preppy pointelle knitwear that still allowed his geek-chic ethos to shine through.
Working in a pastel shades like dusty pink, taupe, eggshell, garments were given an extra punch thanks to quirky details like skirt hems gathered into bows, shrunken neckties and jackets and collars decorated with multicolored hundred-and-thousands.
Jensen also resurrected the loafer, sending female models out wearing patent versions in white and lilac certainly a replacement to this seasons pointy brogue.
