Giles, Autumn/Winter '08 (scroll down to read the review)
Giles
Restrained, with some drama for your bucks is how Giles Deacon described the look of his new collection. We thought we spotted a little aviation somewhere in there, strappy shoes were constructed with wing nuts (naturally, they were smothered in Swarovski crystals) and the life-jackets, that Deacon prefers to call Couture Puffas, were destined for first class.
The entire collection has a modern couture feel (the cloth of choice was duchess satin in jewelled tones) with zip-off godet round skirt hems, the fine gowns and the Fox stubby reborn in blue-black double duchess satin lazer-cut into matchsticks with tinged brown ends.
Deacon used the same technique with 16 different sized lozenges that snaked round a Victorian hobble skirt and for the fringing hanging off suede tea dresses and down the front of gowns.
