Eight years after it transformed London’s fashion landscape, anti-department store Dover Street Market has finally taken on Tokyo, home of its founder, Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons. Its new location - six stories of glass and steel designed, inside and out, by Kawakubo herself - opened last Friday in Ginza. On view are DSM London’s most desirable labels (Celine, Alexanders McQueen and Wang), and Japanese favourites A Bathing Ape, Junya Watanabe and the stable of Comme des Garçons lines. Highlights include the first-ever boutique by New York designer Adam Kimmel and an installation by Louis Vuitton menswear designer Kim Jones.
