Patrick Blanc's 'Unexpected Garden' at Cafe Trussardi

Another slightly offbeat attraction to grab a quick espresso (or something stronger) at is Trussardi’s re-opened Café – boasting a crystal veranda and vertical garden by French landscape architect Patrick Blanc. The 100 square metres of suspended greenery goes by the name of ‘The Unexpected Garden’ and shows Blanc’s own discovery in the field of hydroponic cultivation: that it’s possible to grow plant species on walls without soil. More than merely a gimmick, the vertical garden actually insulates the building it’s installed on and improves air quality by filtering pollution and generating oxygen. And it’s certainly more sightly than your average air purifier.
