IMM Cologne always pulls in the furniture big-hitters, but this year it also proved a magnet to a younger generation of talent. At the show's young-design competition, winners included South Korea's Lee Sanghyeok for his geometric wood desk and Germany's Andreas Mikutta, whose simple daybed caught our eye. We noted a few favourites: Böwer's minimalist dustbins, the colourful geometric tables from new family-run brand Loehr, and Martha Schwindling's lacquered vanity table -- originally produced for Wallpaper 'Handmade' and now produced by Schönbuch. The young Cologne-based design duo Kaschkasch also made a splash with their graphic 'Pinokkio' bench and 'Anna Lena' coat rack.
