Hôtel Americano, New York, USAHabita Hotels has chosen New York as the location of its first outpost outside Mexico. Hôtel Americano provides Chelsea with a fun new hangout, complete with rooftop pool and café, restaurant and two bars. The highlight of Enrique Norten's design is the dedicated exterior elevator running nine storeys up to the rooftop area, hung off the façade of the building so that foot traffic doesn't spoil the atmosphere of the lobby. Offering stunning views of the High Line park, the Empire State Building and the Hudson River, the rooftop space is open all year round thanks to a clever ceiling system, serving Greek-inspired grilled specialities in the summer and traditional Argentine asado during the winter months. The hotel's 56 rooms come in three variations, all inspired by traditional Japanese Ryokan inns and equipped with iPads - complete with custom video art pieces. The restaurant has a large open-plan kitchen and a gorgeous outdoor courtyard area, serving a fusion of French and Latin cuisines. Black + Bright House, Møn, Denmark With its spectacular white cliffs, long stretches of sandy beach and dense forestry, it would be an understatement to describe the scenery on Møn as dramatic. Here, in a quiet spot on Råbylille beach, just 300m from the sea (but a good two hours by air and road from Copenhagen), sits Black + Bright House. Designed by skilled German architect Jan Henrik Jansen, it can accommodate up to eight people with three bedrooms, a loft, two bathrooms and a central sauna accessible from the bathroom and terrace (which is itself equipped with an outdoor shower). GucciFrida Giannini cited art deco, Louise Brooks, Nancy Cunard, William Van Alen's Chrysler building and Blade Runner as the primary influences on her Spring collection. But we had another one to add to the mix: the gilded days of Dynasty. Though the shoulders had nothing on Joan Collins, the stiff, metallic jacquard cropped jackets in green, gold and black, the gold buttons, the gold chains and the black pleat-front pants were unmistakable throwbacks to 1980s power dressing. Giannini's proposal for evening did have something of a deco influence, with hard metal embroidery on drop-waist dresses that gave off a million watt shine, but this was fashion not art.
