The Natural Kitchen
Food & Drink
The clone town food shopping experience is something we deplore and avoid at all costs. Mass market and minor creativity do not a happy shopper make. So it's a big comfort to witness the burgeoning expansion of independent food stores, where quality of content takes precedence over the quantity of big name brands we're so used to seeing on every supermarket shelf.
Recently we pointed you in the direction of Fernandez and Wells in London and now we can direct you to The Natural Kitchen, a little further north west on Marylebone High Street. 100% traceability, an embargo on air freighted produce, biodegradable packaging and an adherence to the ‘Slow Food’ movement are the guiding principles. Add to these a full appreciation of traditional heritage foods, and a trip to The Natural Kitchen is a culinary learning experience, not simply a dash to fill the fridge.
Familiar names like River Cottage, Vintage Roots and The Well Hung Meat Company give a comprehensive idea of the fare on offer and you can have a field day stocking the cellar from London's largest organic wine cave.
Founder Keith Bird explains a little more, 'We want to show people how good food and shopping for food can be. We want to put eco-gastronomy back on people's plates, which is why we’re so passionate about organic, wild and artisan foods. For us it epitomises everything we stand for: taste, quality, seasonality, traceability and above all pleasure.'
