Video: Chanel's venue under construction
Fashion
Karl Lagerfeld surprised the crowds at the Chanel Spring Summer 2010 show in Paris with a bucolic turn, creating a barn in the middle of his venue at the Grand Palais. Inspired by the Marie-Antoinette's hamlet in the grounds of Versailles, Lagerfeld's creation was every bit as spectacularly whimsical.
It took 6 weeks to create, one week to assemble and 38 men working full time. It consisted of 4000 hand painted wooden tiles, 150 metres of field flower garlands, 2 tonnes of clay and 20 cubic metres of hay.
