From propelling the career of Marilyn Monroe in the 1940s to the birth of the famous Pirelli edition in the 1960s, the calendar's history far outstrips its humble function as a mere date-reminder. Somewhat neglected in the digital era, it has been brought back with a flourish by Studio Baer creative director Daniel Baer and Mixt(e) Magazine fashion director Joanna Schlenzka.
For the Style Calendar 2012, the duo, who recently teamed up to guest edit an issue of fashion and photography magazine Centrefold, have mustered up an impressive selection of collaborators, including Wallpaper* photographers Daniel Sannwald and Johan Sandberg, as well as Serge Leblon, Yelena Yemchuk and Miguel Reveriego.
The large-format calendar is built around notions of colour and the female character. Shot by Andreas Larsson, May's girl is whimsical and dreamy in pastel tones, while December's woman is sultry in gold, shot by Daniel Sannwald.
Packages in a custom-made silk-screened box, the limited edition calendar can be purchased from Paris store Colette and the Style Calendar website. Baer and Schlenzka are now busy working on the Style Calendar 2013.
