The Italian luxury footwear label Aquazzura has found itself a suitably glamorous home on the Upper East Side in New York City. Nestled close by to icons such as The Met Breuer, The Carlyle and The Mark Hotel, as well as many other well-heeled boutiques, Aquazzura’s first American flagship boutique is equally as impactful with over 2,200 sq ft at its disposal and its building’s original 1876 façade.
Situated between 74th and 75th Streets on Madison Avenue, the two-floor boutique features a 17-foot glass storefront that makes its black and white interior all the more arresting. Evoking the graphic stripes present in the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella in Florence, the label’s birthplace, interior designer Ryan Korban worked with creative director Edgardo Osorio to create an elegant environment that combines classic Florentine mainstays with a modern Big Apple feel. Gleaming gold shelving and starburst pendant lamps and sconces infuse the space with hits of opulence, while pink marble walls and neutrally toned suede sofas bring a soft, feminine quality to the space.
‘Aquazzura has so much excitement and so much sexiness and modernity to it,’ Korban says. ‘To create a space for a brand with all these characteristics was an incredible experience.’
The boutique is a perfect match to Aquazzura’s seductive, playful wares, which are all on display together with exclusive offerings, made-to-order styles and a selection of the label’s debut bridal collection also ready for the taking. The entire packages is sensual and sophisticated, which makes it no wonder that Aquazzura continues to be one of fashion’s most highly demanded names.
