Clearing-out last season’s wardrobe is a biannual chore, usually saved for a rainy Sunday, two months too late. Clearing-out next season’s wardrobe isn’t something many of us have to contend with, but Miuccia Prada has come-up with a genius solution to her own predicament: to auction off the prototypes of her Autumn Winter ’07 collection online.

Enlisting the help of AMO, the digital brains behind Rem Koolhaas’ OMA, Prada’s Prototypes Auction is certainly no Ebay. Bidders can add a feature image of themselves and promote their own websites too, as well as tracking the bid history of particular garments through a graphic chart.

24 unique pieces, hand-selected by Miuccia herself are being auctioned off in batches of threes, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday until 25th July. Each item can be bid upon for seven days before bidding closes and consciences can be slaved in the knowledge that all proceeds will be donated to Fondazione San Raffaele, devoted to clinical research, care and teaching.
