Copping, a Brit, trained at London's Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art, did stints at both Lacroix and Rykiel before working alongside Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton for twelve years on the women's ready to wear.
In a very intimate presentation in the maison's historical Avenue Montaignes headquarters, Copping sent out a precisely edited collection with a strong feminine message.
Rather than being nostalgic , this new frou-frou came with an edge as Copping kept things from being too saccarin, taking house codes like lace, bows and tulle and mixing them (through layering) with raw cut edges, perforated leather and fabrics that have been washed and crushed.
The coquettishness, the pencil skirts and the mix of navy and black was all extremely French ( Paris has been Coppings base for nineteen years), but women all over the world will gag for every piece. Irresistible.
