You may have heard I'm collaborating with Timberland to produce a limited edition piece for spring/summer 2011. Over the next seven months I shall attempt to give you some behind-the-scenes footage of this menswear project, and also give you an insight into the day-to-day life of Martine Rose.
It seems like only yesterday I was frantically gathering together my collection for my show at London Fashion Week A/W 2010 and escaping the wintery weather with ambles round the Anish Kapoor exhibition at the Royal Academy. Now summer has arrived I find myself lazing in friends' gardens with a Long Island Iced Tea in hand or planning picnics on Hampstead Heath. Last weekend I even managed a dip in the pond -- it was bracing to say the least!
I'm really looking forward to the annual Pavilion at the Serpentine Gallery in Hyde Park -- a sign that summer has well and truly arrived. This year it's being designed by world-renowned French architect Jean Nouvel.
With the weather taking a turn for the worse I'm throwing myself into producing next season's collection as well as working on the Timberland collaboration which I'm very excited about. My aesthetic for the Timberland piece is functional, sustainable and thoroughly modern. I've also become completely obsessed with waterproof zips which, considering the miserable rain outside, is no bad thing.
