What was the first thing you thought about when you woke up this morning?
Who was banging on my door at such an hour - it was a flower delivery man with a bouquet from Nadja Swarovski - I never get flowers!
What do you wear to work?
It's a very utilitarian look - black XL hoodie from H+M, dark skinny jeans with a good bit of stretch, I find Primark women’s are the best: I do a lot of my work on the floor, so I have to be able to bend the legs in comfort, and they're, like, £10 so I don’t mind getting them messed up! And some disposable white canvas shoes - disposable as they never stay white for long, they only cost a fiver and as I never take them off - two to three weeks is all they last.

What do you have for breakfast?
I never eat breakfast, a cup of tea and a fag is about the most I can handle in the morning.
Do you read a newspaper/watch television/click online?
I prefer to not know what’s going on, I hate the idea everything’s so quick all the time, who's done what, what's going on where - if something's worth hearing, I’m sure I'll hear about it.
How do you get to work?
I walk.
What time do you first check your inbox?
I check my email as and when I can, and to my PR's frustration, this is hardly ever when I’m preparing for my show. If it’s important someone will call me - there are too many distractions online - I need to keep away to get on with my work.
Do you listen to music whilst you work? If so, what are you listening to at the moment?
I listen to the worst music on loop in the studio - it's usually the sort of stuff that keeps me awake far longer than is humanly possible... 2Unlimited is a favourite, but lots of old disco tunes, trance, dance, 80s crap, 90s trash, with a few classy numbers thrown in there - I'm very into Siousie Sioux's new album.
Where would your ideal lunch be and who would it be with?
I like a nice spot of Nando’s or some spicy beef soup at Viet Hoa on Kingsland road, or if it’s a Sunday lunch, you can't be robbed at the Wetherspoons on Old Street, though the Ivy does do the most amazing summer fruit fool I've ever eaten in all my life!
Summarise in three words your work ethos?
Harder, faster, harder.
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself.
The occasional lack of self-motivation
What do you think is the most overrated virtue?
Self-righteousness
Where do you feel most inspired?
In bed
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Still being able to do what I do... sometimes it feels like a VERY long slog.
How do you switch off?
Sleep, going back up north - leaving London generally helps.
What did you want to be when you were a child?
A dancer.
What excites you/terrifies you on a daily basis?
My to-do list.
Is there anything about retirement you look forward to?
I really don’t think I'm going to get that old.
