Mood board: The meaning of beauty formed the starting point of Maria Cornejo’s A/W 2017 collection. This laid back and alluring French je ne sais quoi was emphasised in the exploration of rich fabrics and a sense of strong femininity.

Best in show: A black coat with a brown fur collar looked regal yet undone at the same time, a contrast that Cornejo worked well. A golden brown, velvet off-the-shoulder cocktail dress carried an easygoing and elegant flair.

Finishing touches: Cornejo used atypical fabrics in wardrobe staples; velvet was used for an oversized sweatshirt, while bronze mesh made up shoulder-baring evening dresses. Shaggy fur collars accented several coats, and ruched details emphasised draping on asymmetric tops.
