Mood board: Alessandro Michele's womenswear debut at Gucci brought a romantic about-face for the storied Florentine brand. Gone were any sexpot ploys and in their place were poetic clothes twisted with hints of hippie intellectualism.

Best in show: Though Michele's woman veered in and out of dishevelled street style and hyper luxe (in the form of proper mink coats), our favourite pieces were the lady-like dresses and skirts featuring knife-sharp pleats in printed silk or papery leather.

Finishing touches: The designer's background in accessory design brought wide-eyed wonder to next season's extras. The men's horse bit loafer got transformed into a flat fur lined mule. while clogs also got the fur and metal trinket treatment. Most editorial were the long-haired slippers that looked like shaggy dog paws.
