Hardy Amies A/W 2015
Scene setting: A short film that was shown right before the Hardy Amies show put us into an intensely romantic mood. Dizzying highland vistas accompanied by a vertigo-inducing soundtrack beautifully captured creative director Mehmet Ali’s main inspiration: the English poet Wordsworth’s life-changing experience of climbing Mount Snowdon.
Best in show: Woven suits in clay blue, terracotta brown and marsala red conjured up scenes of the great outdoors. A bright yellow coat and a dark conifer green suit borrowed nature's most striking hues while soft knitted pieces with soil-coloured dégradé patterns evoked the earth's substrata.
Finishing touches: In true gentlemanly mountaineering style, sturdy but sleek boots in polished leather - the result of Hardy Amies' first-time collaboration with English shoemaker Tricker's - were the perfect partner for the label's slim suiting printed with a graphic 'tube rope' pattern.
