Playing on Canada’s down-to-earth appeal, WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie was founded back in 2006 in response to the lack of elegant leather accessories available on the Montreal Market.

Twin design Duo, Dexter and Byron Peart, have taken the duplicitous design values of the French Canadian metropolis as their cue, with self-assured functionality and well-crafted elegance leading the way.

Whilst past collections have produced signature burnt sienna and black leather pieces for the urbane world traveler, this season sees the WANT innovators moving onto dizzy new heights, with a series of unisex accessories. Featuring an iPod case and laptop portfolio, the range is crafted in buttery Norwegian leather in colours ranging from red to blue and back to Cognac.

The key piece this season comes in the form of a white leather hold-all designed in celebration of 2010’s winter Olympics. Complete with interchangeable handles in all the colours of the Olympic rainbow, the bag is available in a limited run of 47 (the number of games since proceedings began back in 1896), and in an appropriate nod to WANT’s Franco-extraction the bag will be named the ‘DeGaulle’, after Charles himself.
