Women aren’t used to beating off male competition in the name of fashion, but when it comes to Gris Uchiyama’s hats, anything goes. Specializing in effortless, androgynous styles, Uchiyama opened her C.A.G. boutique in Yanaka after 5 years of hat making.
Short for ‘Chapeaux Artisanaux de Gris’, C.A.G.’s offerings possess a distinctive French air; silhouettes are classical and mannish. Although Uchiyama debuted her men’s collection this September, she has remained true to her roots – some men’s styles are available in women’s sizes to keep her original clientele happy.
