It was one of the most fiercely fought of categories, but Wallpaper's Design Awards Judges crowned Paris the world's best city for 2009. And as such the chic French capital was the setting for the 2009 Design Awards Party, held last Thursday 22nd January.

And what could be a more Parisian venue than the three floors of the stunningly elegant Boucheron jewellery showroom, overlooking the spectacular Place Vendôme.
The guests, luminaries of fashion, architecture and design flew in from all corners of the world to help us celebrate. Kanye West, Jean Nouvel, Inès de la Fressange and Marc Newson, among others, provided glittering company in an already glittering space that was - for one night only - bedecked with an exhibition of the winning items.
Still more sparkle still came courtesy of Veuve Clicquot, while the Fauchon éclairs, in every form from foie gras to framboise - were nothing short of finger-lickin' fantastique.
