Ice-cream spoons by Sian Matthews
The humble ice-cream spoon is one item of cutlery that not even we had considered was in need of an update. But Sian Matthews, a graduate student at London’s Royal College of Art, has done just that. The silversmith in training has designed a set of six spoons in stainless steel, etched with a cute strawberry print – perfect for picnics on the beach and far more preferable than the traditional wooden variety. And we’re not the only ones eating our organic rum and raisin with them – Matthews was recently awarded the DKNY New Designer Award at New Designers 2005.
