Physician turned fashionista Oskar Metsavaht founded the Osklen sportswear line in 1988, and in just over 20 years, it has evolved into one of Brazil's most famous brands.

There are dozens of boutiques across Brazil, as well as shops in Miami, Milan, New York, Rome, and Tokyo. Yet the line, a laid-back yet fashion-forward collection of men's and women's swimwear and sportswear, shoes, bags, and other accessories, doesn't feel mass market. Nor does the experience.

The stores are a warm, minimal mix of reclaimed native woods and neutral colours, all styled with photos, books and design objects found by Metsavaht while on his many global adventures. He tries to incorporate renewable materials and employ responsible production methods with all of his products, like salmon-skin sneakers, R$700, and the company is a dedicated corporate advocate for the Amazon and the environment in general.
