Havaianas are sold on nearly every block across Brazil, in sporting goods stores, fashion boutiques and even pharmacies, but thanks to famous Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld, the brand now has a flagship befitting its status as a national treasure.
Located on the chic shopping strip of Rua Oscar Freire, in São Paulo's famous Jardins District, the voluminous shop is awash with natural light - ushered in by skylights throughout - and colour - provided by the thousands of flip-flops themselves. The entire line is carried here and there is a station where customers can create their own custom pairs.
The store is signature Weinfeld: a clean, modern box with rustic touches and smart ideas, like the stools and benches fashioned from reclaimed native tree trunks and the cheeky take on the ubiquitous Brazilian fruit stand, with Havaianas presented in traditional baskets and wooden crates.
