Italian knitwear label Missoni has finally opened an LA outpost - a woven aluminium façade set on the corner of Rodeo Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard and designed by London- and Rome-based architects Kinmouth Monfreda. Built in Italy and shipped to California, the 700 sq m box - glass, steel and concrete beneath its cladding - glows from within at night. And, like one of Missoni's kaleidoscopic garments, the interior is a seamless vortex of interconnecting spaces designed with what resembles a European shopping street running down the centre, and side streets jutting off to the various collections.
