Comme des Garçons pioneered the guerrilla store, but its most recent boutique, in central Hong Kong, has literally gone underground. Located in a basement, Comme des Garçons Under the Ground greets shoppers with a dazzling display of graphics on the walls and floor of the entrance, the work of Russian artist Kerim Ragimov. Inside the 400 sq m white space, designed by the brand's creative director Rei Kawakubo, curving walls and different ceiling heights divide up the store. The result is a labyrinthine showcase for the Comme des Garçons collections, including Homme Plus and Comme des Garçons Shirt, as well as accessories and perfume. There's also an exclusive event area used to exhibit contemporary art installations.
