Manhattan’s Cast Iron district is the site of Molteni & C Dada’s New York flagship, which opened days before Christmas and days after the London flagship. This seemingly bold statement of expansion at a time when doors everywhere were closing, not opening, was not only strategically planned but expertly executed too. Stripping the two-storey space back to its industrial roots – bare bricks, vast skylights and a cast iron façade – the renovators Studio Cerri and Associati have created an imposing setting for the complete range of Molteni furnishings and Dada kitchen collection. The only architectural element added to the space is a wrought iron staircase, connecting the ground floor to the basement where the bedroom and living room furnishings are laid out like a typical Manhattan loft apartment.
