Having garnered something of a cult status over the past few years, Havaianas - the flip-flops to end all flip-flops - inhabit a rather special place in our hearts. Bringing to mind beaches, festivals and all things summer – it would be difficult not to get excited about slinging on the sling backs and letting your feet breathe (in impeccable technicolour). The Latin American birthplace of the ubiquitous tyre-tread thong therefore, needed to offer expectant consumers something special by way of retail experience. Judging by Isay Weinfeld’s standout Sao Paulo store, the kids from the Copacabana have definitely got it right. Located in the prestigious Jardins neighbourhood, the instantly recognisable, man-sized Havaiana’s emblem shines characteristically conspicuously from the man-size tissue box building that frames it. Simple, stylish and oh-so-utterly-cool, summer has come early to Sao Paulo this year.
