Kim Young Na almost became a product designer. That was, until she realised during her studies that she was more attracted to 2-dimensional material. ‘Now I think that this experience has been good in terms of depth in my work,’ she reflects. She is inspired by an eclectic array of resources, from supermarkets to stickers, from rainbows to cold glue. Whatever floats her boat, so long as she continues to produce work as beautiful as her output thus far. We just love her playful, colourful style, which is perfectly demonstrated in Umool Umool, an experimental magazine, now on to its eighth issue. She also worked on a book about the relationship between type and architecture, as well as a series of sticker posters. These days, she is back in Korea organising an exhibition showcasing the best of the past 10 years at Werkplaats Typografie.
Would most like to work with: I am open to the possibility of collaboration with many people.
