Maison Orleans is a club-level boutique hotel within the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans. Reopened after being shuttered for 15 months following Katrina, the hotel feels like its old self, only better. It has its own entrance and elevator, plus counter-less check-in. Antique furniture, wood floors and dark colours give a European feel. It’s good to know the hotel hasn’t lost its sense of humour; hurricane lanterns have been hung on the faux fireplace in the library. And the location puts the hotel within easy walking distance of everything in the French Quarter, although far enough away from the noise of Bourbon Street so it’s possible to get a good night’s sleep.
