Sanna Anukka’s talent is wide-ranging and multi-faceted. She is on the brink of having her first book published, something she has been looking forward to since she was a child. ‘When I was very young, I read Tove Janssons’s books about the Moomins. Her picture books particularly appealed to me. They were beautifully written and illustrated. It made me want to write and illustrate my own books one day.’

Since those early days, her source of inspiration has graduated from Moomins to Finnish folklore and its myriad characters, which she explored in her final show through a series of silk-screen prints. The boys from pop band Keane, having spied her limited edition images after a friend bought a print, were so taken with her style that they commissioned her to design the cover of their second album 'Under the Iron Sea'.

Anukka is also preparing for her first solo exhibition in August.
