Peter James Field wanted to have his work seen and not just by gallery-goers, but by the general public and as part of everyday life. He got his wish; since graduating, he has taken on myriad commissions from a host of editorial titles, from Time Out and Mens Health to the Independent on Sunday and the Financial Times.
My style is decidedly figurative, he says. 'I like to come up with real drawn solutions to briefs. This makes sense when you learn that Field spent his formative years studying History of Art: Im 31 now, so I was a mature student when I started at Brighton Id been teaching in Japan and before that, I read Art History - so I really have a very broad church of art references.
But as well as alluding to the masters, Field is no stranger to popular culture. We like 'Carol McGiffen Saliva Tree' an illustrated chart which traces who has dated whom from McGiffen to Frank Sinatra.
