Maruse, the furniture, antiques and blown glass artwork store in Tokyo's Shibuya district, is a guaranteed stop during our frequent trips to Japan, particularly since it received a full makeover last year by Koizumi Studio. Makoto Koizumi and his team created a simple, sleek design, based on the original space, but reworked all the fittings and rearranged the floorplan.
The result is a minimalist composition of calming, natural colours and luan plywood furniture, providing a chic and confident, but not overwhelming backdrop, ideal for displaying the shop's beautiful merchandise, which ranges from chairs and lamps to tableware and vintage tools.
