Borja Bonaque has been drawing constantly since he was a child and won art competitions while at school. At university, he became interested in the Bauhaus movement and the Russian Constructivists; echoes of their work can be seen in the airy cityscapes and skylines present in many of her illustrations. 'I try to combine colour and composition in simple forms; I like to create ethereal spaces and give them textures. My work process is completely digital, although the sketches are first made on paper. I am also interested in typography and in the creation of impossible letters.'

My favourite illustrator is Alex Trochut, but I also love the American illustrators of the 1940s and 1950s, like Jim Flora.
