Carolina Wilcke drew on the colours of the leaded lights found in Dutch houses of the 1920s in development of her ‘KamerRekwisiet’, a cabinet sculpture in oak and coloured thread which she describes as a ‘3-D painting’. ‘I guess my work is somewhere between product design and art. With ‘KamerRekwisiet’ I tried to make a piece of furniture whose function was not for sitting in or storage, but to give a room more personality and warmth. It can also be a screen for dividing a space and making a room more intimate. A lot of people have said it has a De Stijl feel to it.’ The other element of her final degree project was a tableware set of ceramics, silver and glass, the materials she plans to work with in the future.
