When she began her studies Caroline Van Pagée practiced a reportage form of photography, but now her studies are almost entirely constructed to fit with notions that she says ‘pop’ into her head. “I work in a very sculptural way. I have an idea and then I try to find the right object to turn the idea into a visual image. I’m often very experimental, always seeking out new ways of working. I’ve been asked why not just make sculptures, but I like photography’s power to frame how the viewer must see the work.”
Inspired by:
The dreamy, feminine imagery of Elspeth Diederix and of Dutch artist/photographer Edwin Zwakman who photographs constructed landscapes in his studio.
