Established in 1997 by Hiroshi Sambuichi, now a seven-strong team in Hiroshima.The firm's key sources of inspiration are the workings of planet earth. When creating, the firm strives to use renewable materials and energy sources, melding traditional artistry with modern technology and leaving as light a footprint on the landscape as possible.The idyllic setting of the Air House, amid cherry trees by the Hashimoto River in Hagi, can also be windy and cold; moveable wooden panels within the glass curtain wall can close off the space. Future works include more housing and a restaurant.
