‘My goal is to create objects that should evoke wonder and change the perceptions of the observer,’ says Dominic Pluer with palpable ambition. ‘I try to achieve this by controlling the unconscious communicative and associative aspects of colour, form, material and tactility within an object. A study of abstract shape and concrete form.’ He first realized that interiors were his bag when he saw how atmospheres can be manipulated by arranged objects, and how space and objects correspond, influence each other and create new situations. He is inspired, he says, by ‘fragments of things that aren’t composed form yet. I think I also rely on an unconscious archive of words and images.’ For now though, Pluer can mostly be found ‘working on my focus.’ We look forward to the results of his labours.
