‘I enjoy the challenge of creating a design that isn’t an out-of-the-box solution,’ says Jas Bhachu. True to his word, while he was studying, Bhachu earned recognition as the architect of the rubik’s cube font generator, a standard straight-out-of-the-box rubik’s cube to which the designer added stamps, allowing users to create their own typeface. He garners inspiration through books, both old and new, and the Internet. ‘I also try to go to museums,’ he explains. ‘I recently went to MOMA in New York and I was inspired to create a typeface from an Andy Warhol painting.’ Bhachu is currently working with a design company called Nonconform, as well as keeping up with personal projects, but sees his future working in New York or Japan as a graphic designer.

My main inspiration comes from design companies like Non-Format. I love their use of typography within their work.
