For the duration of his final year, Chris West sold the space on a white t-shirt on e-Bay every week and then wore the winning design for the following week. At the end of his year, he sold the t-shirts in an auction, so that all that remains of the work, which he called Your Message Here, are a catalogue and flyers and posters created for the final auction. He actually found a demand for his advertising space from a group campaigning against the planned move of Gerrit Reitveld from its historic campus. “It was not so much the commerce that interested me, as the idea of a project that would take a whole year and that had to be executed according to set limitations. I am interested in working to the fullest extent within certain kinds of confinement.”
