Quilian Riano has worked extensively in South America, exploring how marginalized communities and mobile populations re-shape architecture to their very particular needs. For Riano, 'infrastructure' embraces all aspects of the built environment, 'the holistic interaction between urban, landscape and architectural systems.' As a result of this fascination, explored throughout his work at Harvard, Riano recently founded the DSGN AGNC think tank, a hands-on unit that is currently planning new social housing in Colombia, Ghana and Mexico. He combines design and research with teaching in the US (Boston and NY) and Colombia, as well as collaborating with Teddy Cruz and admiring the work of practices that blend social and political context into their work.

Inspiration:
Sources of inspiration include the work of Cedric Price, Archizoom and Archigram, in particular their mobile structures, as well as the big ideas encapsulated by OMA's unbuilt work from the 80s.
