‘Photography’s capacity for both confounding and confirming our expectations of reality is what draws me to the medium,’ says Jamie Tiller. During his sojourn at the Royal College, he exhibited extensively around the UK, as well as in Japan and Germany, whilst picking up a myriad of awards, from the Hooper Gallery gong to an RCA residency in Kyoto. Black Box, an ongoing series of large-scale monochromatic images, explores the unintentional spaces created by architecture and the removal of a real sense of place, while Outside In also explores ‘non’ places, this time through the curiously dramatic off-stage areas of theatres.

Would most like to work with: I’d love to be a fly on the wall watching the artist Gregor Schneider of filmmaker Roy Andersson at work. It’s their ability to reconfigure the world, making fuction somehow more truthful than fact.
