Nominated as one of 13 emerging photographers of 2008 by American Photo magazine for Horizonville, Yann Gross’s stark yet humorous series explores the unattainable American Dream – in Switzerland. He first discovered photography when he began to take pictures of his friends at school, and with that, he was hooked: ‘Actually, the experiences I live by taking pictures are almost more important than the results,’ says Gross. His most recent work took him further afield to Uganda in search of skateboarders, while 2008 exhibitions have led to Sao Paulo, Sardinia and Budapest. Amid all that globetrotting, he also contributes to In Out and Das magazines.
Would most like to work with: I’d love to make a project with a writer.
