The fashion paths Jacobs tracks usually trigger a stampede. Yet this season the designer seemed to want to stay put, finding the idea of home and a degree of cosiness welcoming. That sense of the personal, the familiar and the low-key was evoked throughout his thoughtful mix of Fair Isle knits and midi-length tweed skirts, grey tailored three-piece suits, long bias-cut dégradé gowns in velvet or lamé, and love-worn sweaters in shades of citrine yellow, pewter grey and mousey brown. That sense of family and closeness continued right through to the casting: the collection was modelled by friends, unknown models and slender beauties from Jacobs' design studio.
