Wallpaper* Design Awards 2011

Asia's most dynamic city is on a roll. The new Cultural District in West Kowloon, a project headed by Graham Sheffield, former artistic director of London's Barbican, will feature an art museum and performance venues. The kingpin is Kohn Pedersen Fox and Wong & Ouyang's 484m International Commerce Center. Coldefy & AssociƩs' Institute of Design and Zaha Hadid's Innovation Tower for the Polytechnic University are due to open in 2011. On Hong Kong Island, up-and-coming NoHo hosts the best design stores, while restoration projects such as David Yeo's Hullett House, part of a now-happening local hotel scene, reveal that Hong Kong may be ready to look back as well as forward.
