Design Awards 2010

Soaring above the rooftops of Shanghai, the Park Hyatt is the highest hotel in the world, sitting on floors 79-93 of the 101- storey World Financial Centre. Inspired by traditional Chinese geometry and architecture, New York-based designer Tony Chi has created a contemporary interior with earthy tones and natural materials. The elegant rooms have high ceilings and, at 55 sq m, are some of the most spacious in town. All feature luxury bathrooms with deep soaking baths and separate powder rooms. The hotel's Water Edge space boasts an infinity pool, a t'ai chi courtyard, a steam room and a spa. There are also two bars, a whisky cellar and restaurants serving Western, Chinese and Japanese cuisine.
