Design Awards 2010

Inspired by the illicit cabaret days of 1920s Berlin, Illamasqua make-up's adventurous colour palette and shiny black packaging raise a carefully manicured finger to the current trend for restraint. Designed for the ‘bolder person’ – both women and men – the range of technicolour lipsticks, nail varnishes, eyeshadows and accessories have names such as Scratch, Pierce and Bite. Far from gimmicky, however, the high-performance products are created with top stage and screen make-up artists. While the more vivid shades may require careful application to avoid revealing too much of your inner showgirl or boy, artistic director and renowned make-up artist Alex Box’s honed burlesque look is a perfect advertisement for the brand.
