Design Awards 2010

Combining traditional Japanese craftsmanship with modern technology, the 'Faceman' trimming kit also fuses smooth, curvy aesthetics with masculine functionality. Designer Haruo Hasegawa has used high-quality stainless steel and aluminium, as well as polished wood, making the tools durable, weighty and perfectly suited to the task at hand. A neat leather case packs items including thinning scissors, tweezers and a goat-hair clothes brush. Manufactured by specialist toolmakers Maruto Hasegawa Kosakujo, the kit forms part of the Tools for Men collection, a showcase of Japanese craftsmanship put together by the Niigata Industrial Creation Organization.
