The experimental duo behind Raw-Edges bring a welcome jolt of imagination to functional furniture. To create their Coiling Collection - the subject of a new show at Paris' Fat Galerie - Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay cut long strips of wool felt and deftly role it into a cone-like structure, before coating one side in resin. Supported by wooden legs, the felt becomes both structure and upholstery - a sparing technique with pleasing playful results.

But, for the London-based studio, the process is every bit as important as the finished product. To see Raw-Edges in action, and for more on the new emphasis on theatrics in design, you'll have to pick up the January issue of Wallpaper* (out 8th December).
