Spazio Rossana Orlandi is an annual highlight of the fair and makes for a somewhat more relaxed viewing environment than the packed halls of the Salone itself. Orlandi makes it her mission to discover all that's new and original in the world of design and this year her fascinating edit includes works by a broad spectrum of names.

On show are new pieces by the master of simplicity, Naoto Fukasawa, including a watch for Plusminuszero, furniture for Maruni and a modular shelving system for Artek - Fukasawa's first collaboration with the brand. Spanish designer Tomás Alonso has also unveiled a new collection of lighting and Dutchman Piet Hein Eek, is showing fair trade baskets, lighting and ceramics.

The courtyard is also home to a new table and tiles by Patricia Urquiola for Mutina, as well as unusual pieces by architect-cum-designer Duilio Forte.
